Combining ancient beams, vaulted ceilings and stone walls with smart modern furnishings and fittings and a luxurious level of comfort, most of the superbly designed cottages are set around a large, peaceful, paved and lawned courtyard whilst, close by and adjoining one other similar property, Manor Barn is a splendid, ultra modern barn conversion enjoying its own garden with private hot tub. The village's renowned dining pub is just 200 yards distant and Bakewell, a picturesque, fascinating town and home of the famous Bakewell Pudding, boasts a lively Monday market, fine shopping, a museum, swimming pool and golf.
Excellent walking and horse riding can be enjoyed locally and Lathkill Dale itself is a National Nature Reserve, preserving wild flower meadows, craggy fossil filled rocks, ancient woodlands and a crystal clear stream with abundant butterfiles, wildlife and birds.
A host of delights lie within a short drive of Manor Court Cottages including magnificent Chatsworth House, medieval Haddon Hall and Arbor Low stone circle, which are all under 5 miles. Gulliver's Kingdom theme park and the sensational Heights of Abraham cable car rides at Matlock Bath, the world renowned caverns at Castleton and Carsington Lake's sailing, windsurfing and canoe hire and tuition are all under 10 miles. Crich Tramway Museum, a restored cotton mill, steam railway trips, a craft centre, working flour mill and a glass blowing workshop are among popular nearby attractions, and the thrills and excitement on offer at Alton Towers are 20 miles away, whilst the excellent shopping and entertainment opportunites of Sheffield, Manchester and Derby are also easily accessible.

Three bedrooms. A really beautiful house. Entrance hall. Well fitted kitchen. Spacious sitting/dining room with oak laminate floor, stone fireplace with electric 'wood burner effect' stove and high vaulted beamed ceiling. Double bedroom with ensuite shower room/WC. Bathroom/WC with bidet and shower over corner bath. Two separate staircases to two first floor small galleried twin bedded rooms both with low sloping ceilings and beams.

Reviews
A lovely cottage (converted barn) that was just one in a "mews" of several similar properties. Our accomodation comfortably housed 4 friends and two children. Kitchen was fully equipped with ANYTHING you may ever need, even chapagne flutes! Two bathrooms that made the inevitable hassle of 4 women all getting ready at once, less fraught. Fabulous cosy decor, and an enormous dining table. Nice grassy "court-yard" and friendly dogs for the children to run around. All in all very pleased, and will be booking again with family as hopefully we could get adjacent properties.
Location 5 minutes drive to Bakewell, and lots of nearby attractions.

For many of those staying in our holiday cottages in Derbyshire, the main appeal of the county will be the unspoilt scenery of the Peak District, in the north of the county. However, there are many other attractions waiting for you in this varied region,
Derbyshire boasts a number of fine country houses, including Chatsworth House & Gardens, one of our finest stately homes with a magnificent chapel, not to mention an impressive water cascade and the towering plume of the Emperor Fountain. And Hardwick Hall in Doe Lea is one of England’s finest Elizabethan houses, with an amazing frontage of tall windows. Bolsover Castle, dating from the 12th Century, is also well worth a visit during one of our Derby cottage holidays.
The city of Derby has some excellent shopping and the Cathedral is famous for its impressive tower. If you’re in a ghoulish mood, pay a visit to Derby Gaol, a popular visitor attraction based in the old dungeons of Derby County Gaol. Afterwards, why not take a stroll in Derby Arboretum, England’s first public park, or take a look around Pickford’s House, a marvellous example of 18th Century architecture.
